One day, the Prophet climbed the mountain with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna 'Umar, and Sayyiduna 'Uthman — and the mountain began to shake out of excitement and joy. He pressed his foot on the mountain and said, 'Remain firm, O Uhud, for there is a Prophet, a Siddiq, and two martyrs upon you.' Years later, Sayyiduna 'Umar and Sayyiduna 'Uthman were martyred which fulfilled the words of the Messenger of Allah. Another time, the Prophet returned from a journey and as he came close to the borders of the city, he pointed towards Uhud and said, 'Uhud is a mountain. It loves us and we love it!'
